I put all of the previous Blar installments onto one page. One more part to go!
And so much more to do before SPX.

Blar, part the third:
The wedding was very nice… it took place in a one-room church, with lots of candles, a bit of live music, and a pleasant atmosphere. Dean and Sonrisa both looked incredibly happy.
I scored three pieces of wedding cake at the reception.
Getting up to the wedding was a bit of a trial. We managed to get lost twice, despite the fact that I must have driven from Savannah to Athens at least four or five times. We ended up arriving at the church just in time, having lost our 2 hour lead. We did get to drive through Elberton, the granite capitol of the world.
The next day we hung out with Robert, Mary Jessica, Erin and Patrick Dean. Robert insisted on showing us a bit of Jerkbeast – The Movie, which apparently revolves around a real Seattle cable access call-in radio show, in which a large paper-mache monster and his two cohorts insult the callers.
Every time I see Robert, he’s brandishing yet another example of humanity’s creative potential.
We all went out for Mexican food at Agua Linda – which, believe it or not, does not mean “Linda’s Water.” Afterward, we poked around Los Compadres, the Mexican grocery next door. We got a big glass bottle of coke, two popsicles (coconut and rice) and a big sugar cookie. Eleanor tried to get me to buy boots with embossed alligators on the toes. Then we drove home.
I’ve kind of diverted my efforts temporarily to doing a couple of new short stories for this little Blar mini for SPX, so I decided to post up the original Blar story I did for the Fluke anthology, a little bit at a time.
Drawing Blar is tons of fun, in a highschool-notebook-doodle-ish sort of way.
Eleanor’s knees are fine, it turned out that the “padding” behind the kneecaps was inflamed from the fall she took, and all she has to do is take anti-inflammatory drugs and stay off them for a week or two.
We’ll be heading off to northern Georgia for Dean’s wedding tomorrow, and we’ll be staying at Robert and Mary Jessica’s new house overnight, so we should have a fun weekend, even if Eleanor laments her new comic (which she’s been posting on her livejournal – the first page is here, and you should definitely start from the beginning) being done a couple of days later than scheduled.
I’ve decided to put together a “Blar” minicomic for SPX. Who is Blar? If you had picked up this year’s Fluke anthology you would know. It’ll probably have the story from that anthology, plus a new one.
It’s been a frantic couple of days. Got the coupon book for this month done – it took a bit more work this time since I finally upgraded from Pagemaker to InDesign, and I’m still learning the ropes. Next month’s book should be even more fun as I try and work around SPX, which is at the end of September.
Eleanor’s been having a hard time recently – a couple of days ago, she tripped while we were out jogging, and skinned her knees up pretty good. We thought that was the extent of the damage, and even went jogging the next day – but for the past couple days her knees have gotten more and more stiff and painful. Now she can hardly bend them and can’t stand up for more than a couple minutes. I’ll be trucking her to the doctor come Monday.
I wish they would go ahead and announce the lineup for the SPX anthology already.
I may or may not see “Brothers Grimm” tomorrow.
I also may or may not do that music quiz meme that’s been floating around.
