I feel sassified.

on February 28, 2005

Just finished up the coupon book for March, and I’ve got a check in my pocket.

The printer just sent off a new proof book for the Journal Comic collection. If this one is right, maybe we can get the new print run by next week.

I’m working on a six pager for Ed Brisson’s “You Ain’t No Dancer Anthology,” so there probably won’t be any new panels this week.

I’m about to go get some dinner with Eleanor. Maybe we’ll stop by Moon River for a delicious Captain’s Porter.

I found this really, really funny.

A boomerang!

Wow! The wonders of the Internets never cease:

I found this pretty intriguing on its own, in a paperrad sort of way.

But I was truly surprised to find a special cameo a little past the halfway point.

The beat don’t stop

on February 22, 2005

Well, here’s what happened. Late last week, FedEx dropped three big boxes on my doorstep. I cracked ’em open, and there they were: the 2nd printing of the Journal Comic. Immediately I grabbed one and flipped through it. There was a problem. The interior artwork was all pixelated. Not enough to be unreadable, but enough so it didn’t look good. I grabbed another – same problem. All of the books had pixelized artwork. So obviously, I wasn’t happy.

I dropped an email to the printer, and within hours they had apologized and offered to reprint the book at no cost. They’re very nice guys.

I want you guys to have the best-looking books. But that means yet another delay. I don’t know how long this time. Hopefully not more than a week or two.

I’m growing a beard

on February 11, 2005

See, Eleanor did me an enormous favor for me recently. Let’s just say, it involved doing part of my job for me while I was shirking my responsibilities up in Athens. Also it involved her spending about 8 hours on the computer. So I told her I owed her a favor, anything within reason. Her request: she wanted me to grow a mustache. “For how long?” I asked. “Oh, just as long as you have a real mustache – not just stubble,” she said.

So that’s what I’m doing. I refuse to spend most of a month with just a moustache, so I figure I’ll grow a full beard first. Then I’ll shave everything but the mustache for a day or two. Then I’ll shave that.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Eleanor.

Nobody looks good with a mustache.
