Man, what happened on Sunday evening in Athens, Georgia? Something that looked look this:

DSCF0018_11

Yeah, we took that picture when we both were pretty sure that any second the snow would turn back to rain and melt away. But it kept coming, and in 8 hours or so the town was under six inches. Northerners can scoff, but Athens doesn’t have things like snow plows or salt trucks. Our power went out around 4 in the afternoon, and was off till late last night. We went wandering around, and there were huge branches and whole trees down on every block. The entire sky would lighten and darken as entire neighborhood’s power lines cut in and out. But now it’s all melting.

Here’s a snow beast for the blizzard of ’09:

Thanks to everyone who pitched in with advice on my last post; I’ve been too swamped to reply properly. Here’s a monster, sorry about that.

Eleanor and I have been trying to revamp our websites recently. It’s been so long since I’ve been in the website-designing game, what are the kids using these days to make cool websites? Anybody got awesome suggestions, like a program that automatically makes thumbnail galleries for you and is easily updatable and is also very easy to use and customize and also free? There are so many awesome comics/illustrators with great websites out there, but I’m no longer able to suss my way through html source code, it’s all CSS and what-not nowadays. Man, I’m getting old.

Just a little monster today:

I didn’t look up what parts a chimera actually has, I think it’s better that way.

Our friend Max swung by Athens yesterday. Go check out his comics.

We went to the circus in Atlanta last night. It was amazing.

I haven’t been to one in decades, and never one so elaborate. They had big electronic displays and at one point they were playing what we all swore was a calliope’d version of Prodigy’s “Smack My Bitch Up,” but the attempt to stay hip with the kids just made the whole thing more charming. Also, goats riding on ponies.

Thanks for hooking us up with the tickets, Mr. Clark!

More monsters on Monday.
