Survey

on May 18, 2005

I don’t know about these blog survey things, but I’ll be a good sport for Robert.

1 ) Total number of books owned?

Somewhere between 800 and 1200, I’m too lazy to do an actual count. That’s counting the reference books, kid’s books, and graphic novels too, though.

2) The last book I bought?

I bought a whole bunch of books at a library book sale a month or two ago, and I’m still working though them all. I can’t remember ’em all, but some of the ones sitting on the “to be read” shelf are Nabokov’s Lolita, Fowles’ The French Lieutenant’s Woman, Marquez’s Love in the Time of Cholera and a book of Oscar Wilde short stories. It’s not that I’m incredibly intellectual, I just read all of the quick and easy ones already.

3) The last book I read?

I think the last book I read through was the big Bone “One Volume Edition” I’ve had since Christmas. I had a good three quarters of the individual issues, but I wanted the whole thing in one place. I have to admit that it didn’t turn out as a whole story as well as I had hoped. Smith kept introducing new plot elements up until the end, and didn’t tie up half of the threads from the beginning in very satisfying ways. Maybe I would have liked it better if I had kept up with the individual issues.

4) Five books that mean a lot to me:

Hmm… if I were going to answer this question honestly, the books that I was most deeply affected by were all lousy Young Adult Fantasy/Sci Fi Novels that I was addicted to in my impressionable youth. So to spare myself the shame, I’ll skip this one. Maybe I’ll think up some self-flattering titles later on.

5) Tag 5 people and have them put this in their journal:

I’m pretty sure that people who perpetuate blog memes get condemned to hell.

——

In other news, how retarded is it that I’m actually excited about the new Star Wars movie? I thought I was over all that.

Also, I have hell of a big ingrown toenail. Maybe I should see a podiatrist.

Oh no you di’int

on May 18, 2005

Holy crap, they’re making a sequel to The Dark Crystal. I was obsessed with this movie for a good part of my adolescence, for reals. I managed to get just about every piece of merchandise associated with it.

For me, hearing they’re making a sequel is probably kinda like a christian hearing somebody just found an Even Newer Testament. Mixed feelings of horror, wonder, and a bemused sort of anticipation.

Books, books, books

on May 17, 2005

About a quarter of the book orders went out today. I should be dropping another 1/4 or so in the mail tomorrow. I’m trying not to give the post office ladies a conniption, as well as waiting for any last minute address changes. Get ’em in now, folks!

Besides putting together packages, I’ve spent the last couple days getting over a cold. Eleanor’s got it now, ha ha.

Today I also went and talked a little about doing webcomics to the kids in Linda Medley’s “Self Publishing” class, over at SCAD. I don’t know how coherent I was, but hopefully somebody got something out of it.

Speaking of teh webcomics, I guess I really ought to do some of those soon, huh?

Changes of Address

on May 9, 2005

I’m in the midst of getting books ready to send off (and finishing up a little something extra to include in the really late ones,) so if there’s anybody out there who’s changed addresses, and hasn’t already emailed me, please do. If you’re one of these people, I’ve got your updated address:

Randy Carboni
Jon McElroy
Rick Boven
Steve (in Toronto)
Jason McPheron
Jeffrey Barker

The books are in!

on May 6, 2005

Just got the boxes today, and they look good!

I’ll be spending the rest of today packing up orders. The last 24 hours have been pretty good. We got our power fixed (it’s been mostly out for the last three days,) I got my computer working again (I thought it might have been fried in the power out,) and the books came in.

Sweet.
