A good excuse

I find it really hard to keep up a sketchbook in a consistent fashion. I usually grab paper out of the printer if I need to sketch something. I blame R. Crumb for giving me a hangup. But look how good Eleanor’s gotten, and she sketches like a motherfucker.

•How long will it take for my order to arrive? I need my order to get here FAST!
We try to charge as little as we possibly can for shipping – the shipping and handling only covers the price of the packaging and the postage. Almost all of our orders are sent out via the U.S. Postal Service, using the cheapest rate possible.
Within the U.S. – If your order is pretty light (under 13oz,) we go with First Class, usually taking only a couple of days. If it’s heavier, most of the time we use Media Mail, which is a special rate for books and other – you guessed it – media. This can take a week or two, (rarely, 3-4). Posters are also mailed First Class.
Outside of the U.S. – We used to use “Economy (Surface) Post,” but the post office recently eliminated this option. The cheapest option these days for anything more than a few ounces is usually International Priority which is faster (6 to 10 days) but more expensive. Sorry.
If you need your order faster, email us at shop (at) drewweing dot com and we’ll see what we can do. Please be aware that postage can get pretty expensive for fast orders – especially overseas!
•How much am I going to get charged for shipping?
We recently changed the way we charge for shipping; here’s the breakdown:
For minicomics orders, the shipping is now based on a percentage of your total order, on a sliding scale.
Order amount: | Shipping: |
$10.00 or under | 25% |
$10.01 – $30.00 | 20% |
$30.01 – $60.00 | 15% |
$60.00 and up | 10% |
So if you order $12 worth of books, your shipping would be $2.40 – $50 worth of books would be $7.50, etc. This is calculated automatically by Paypal and added on when you check out.
Shipping prices for prints and original art (i.e., big flat stuff) don’t fall under this shipping rate – those are a flat $7. If you order multiple pieces of original art or prints that we can fit into one package, we’ll refund the extra shipping.
International shipping is a little more complicated, due to recent U.S. postal changes. For minicomics orders, the shipping is now based on weight.
Order amount: | Shipping: |
1 oz – 5 oz | $6 |
5 oz – 4 lbs | $13.50 |
4 lbs – 8 lbs | $27.00 |
8 lbs – 12 lbs | $40.50 |
12lbs – 16lbs | $54.00 |
One of our books weighs 2-5 ozs. So for anything more than one or two books, up to four pounds, it’s usually cheapest for us to send your books in a prepaid International Priority Mail envelope.
International shipping prices for prints and original art (i.e., big flat stuff) don’t fall under this shipping rate – those are a flat $15. If you order multiple pieces of original art or prints that we can fit into one package, we’ll refund the extra shipping.
Paypal can act a little screwy sometimes, so if you see a shipping charge that doesn’t match up with the above, please let us know at shop (at) drewweing dot com!
•I got a package but it only had part of my order!
We sometimes divide up large orders between a couple different packages, so it can get to you faster and in better shape. We try to write the number of packages you should expect in the upper left corner (by the return address.)
•My package got totally destroyed in the mail!
We try and pack up all our orders securely with stiff cardboard mailers, heavy mailing tubes and padded envelopes. But sometimes an irate postal worker or malevolent mail-processing machine will decide to shred a package, and nothing can stop it! If some of your books or posters got damaged, please let us know at shop (at) drewweing dot com and we’ll try to make it right.
Most of the things for sale at Little House Comics were made by hand. All of the posters and a few of the minicomics covers are silkscreened right here at our house. The interiors are usually copied up at one of your standard copy shop chains. Then it’s all stapled together with a saddle-stitch staplers. All of the items in the “Books” section were printed by professional-type printers, however. Here is a very handy reference guide to making all sorts of different comic books yourself!
