Set to Sea pg. 124 (of 134)

on August 16, 2010

(The Set to Sea book is out now!)

Ten panels left after today’s, so this is the last little arc of the story. I think I’m going to bump up to posting every day until it’s done! Then I’m going to pull most of the story offline except for a preview, and let it live in book form. Fair warning!

(The Set to Sea book is out now!)

Two new Set to Sea reviews!
The Onion’s AV Club: “Weing’s beautiful art and masterful pacing are so pleasurable that Set To Sea stands up to multiple reads. It’s a catchy little tune that sounds better with each spin.”
The Las Vegas Weekly: “If the message and method of delivery seem simple, the artwork is anything but. In that regard, Set to Sea is the comics equivalent of good poetry.”

• Set to Sea picked up a 2nd really nice Amazon review! I like getting reviews. So far.
• If you’re a comics media person and want to do an interview or review, please hit me up! I am totally into that. drew (at) drewweing (dot) com.
• Happy birthday to my friend Michele Chidester! (you might have seen her soft sculptures?)
• I blew an hour or so yesterday reading Jess Fink’s journal-type comics at her new site, Kid With Experience.

(The Set to Sea book is out now!)

Stuff is starting to come in about the Set to Sea book (in stores now)! I did an interview with the international comics blog, Avoid the Future, about the origins of Set to Sea, the trickiness of art within art, the “lack” of kids comics, and more, go check it out:

And the Miami Herald has a quick review of the book, calling it a “hilariously violent picaresque tale,” which is good enough for me, I guess.
