Comicography?

I decided to make a list of all of the illlustrations and comics I've gotten "in print" since college, mostly so I can keep track of them. My specifications for this are pretty wide... I'm counting webcomics & minicomics I've done, and other self-produced stuff; as well as stuff that I've gotten published "for reals."


    2006
  • "Letters to the Editors" banner illustration of a break dancing mailperson, for the February '06 issue of Nickelodeon Magazine.
  • Narmer, Hatshepsut, Cleopatra, & Tutankhamun, illustrations of Egyptian pharaohs, for the Winter 2006 issue of Moo Cow Fan Club Magazine.
  • "Amy Anderson, Amateur Archaeologist" - a 1 page comic for the March '06 issue of Nickelodeon Magazine. This was the special 3D issue of the magazine, 3D effects done by Ray Zone.

    2005
  • "Blar" - a 2 page comic about a rampaging barbarian for the 2005 Fluke Anthology.
  • The Vault - a tiny minicomic that you unfold until you discover the secret treasure inside, meant to be sold from a vending machine. There were 7 different treasures to be had. 9 "pages," b&w with a full color sticker insert.
  • Blar - a minicomic reprinting the Blar comic from the Fluke Anthology, plus 2 other Blar stories & pinups - 20 pages, with a die-cut cover.
  • Set to Sea - an online comic about a poet who falls asleep on the pier one night, updated one panel at a time. In progress.
  • "The Machinery Inside," a 6 page comic about the end of the world, for the You Ain't No Dancer anthology, published by New Reliable Press, edited by Ed Brisson.
  • Webcomics, Tools and Techniques for Digital Cartooning, an educational book about webcomics, featured art from "Pup" and other comics on the cover and interior. By Steven Withrow and John Barber, published by Barron's.
  • Gallery Exhibition - "Panel Progressions: One Hundred Years of Sequential Art," Nov. 10-30 at Red Gallery, Savannah. Featured six panels from Set to Sea.
  • Joint Christmas card w/ Eleanor. Has Santa with a pull-out beard.

    2004
  • Pup Stays in Bed - reprinted as a stand-alone minicomic from Serializer.net - 16 pages with an inkstamp cover.
  • Little Trees - an online comic about a little boy's summer. Currently stands at 4 pages, but will be resumed at some point.
  • 4 page comic for a mini called Robert Newsome: Internet Phenomenon.
  • "Path of Least Resistance Funnies," a 2 page comic in the 2004 Fluke Anthology.
  • Cover illustration and interview in the April 2004 issue of The Comics Journal, the "Young Cartoonists" issue.
  • "Tree Awards" - 2 pages of illos about unique types of trees, for the Summer 2004 issue of Moo Cow Fan Club Magazine.
  • "Leaflet Drop" - a 4 page comic about freedom fighters, for the SPX 2004 Anthology, published by the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, edited by Greg Bennett, Charles Brownstein, & Chris Pitzer.
  • The Journal Comic - a complete collection of TJC strips, with loads of bonus material. 128 pages, full color cover.
  • Untitled Mini (for Eleanor,) a somewhat morbid but still sappy "love comic." 30 pages, 2-color silkscreen cover.

    2003
  • Drewweing.com silkscreened business card, featuring Kitzel and Kratzer from "Pup."
  • 1 page illo in The Journal of Modok Studies, Volume 1, a fanzine devoted to the Marvel Comics character, published by Second Period Press, edited by Robert Newsome.
  • The Journal Comic vol. 1 - a collection of the first 6 months worth of TJC strips and backup material. 66 pages with a 2-color silkscreen cover.
  • "Scars," a 5 page autobio comic for the Failure Anthology, published by Carpal Tunnel Press, edited by Jerry Stanford.
  • "Pup Stays in Bed," an 8 page comic (reprinted from Serializer.net,) in the Modern Tales 2003 Yearbook, an anthology of online comics from the Modern Tales "family." Published by Modern Tales, edited by Eric Millikin.
  • "Snow Day," 1 page illo of a grumpy kid on a not very snowy day, for the December/January issue of Nickelodeon Magazine. This was for the cover of the "Comic Book" section of the mag.
  • 2 pages of illustrations about the ancient Olympics for Moo Cow Fan Club Magazine, Winter '03-'04

    2002
  • The Journal Comic - an online daily diary comic that ran from March 2002 to July 2003.
  • The Journal Comic - a minicomics "series" collecting a month's worth of TJC strips per. There were 5 issues: March, April, May, June, and July/August, all in 2002.
  • "Pup" - an online comic about a philosophical dog and 2 childish cats. It debuted on Serializer, an online alternative comics site edited by Tom Hart.
  • Pup Walking, - a full color "Pup" poster.
  • Choose Your Own Misadventure, a full color "Pup" poster, reprinting one of the online strips.
  • "Denby," a 2 page comic reprinted in Shiot Crock, a fanzine done by members of the Comics Journal online messageboard. "Denby" originally appeared in the The Only Thing Left.
  • 8 pages worth of Journal Comic strips were reprinted along with a back cover illustration in Storylines, an anthology of "young cartoonists" published by Fantagraphics and edited by James Sturm.

    2001
  • Spirit Lamp - a full-color postcard, printed for promotional reasons.
  • The Only Thing Left - a minicomics collection of short comics & illos, done as the last project in my "Alternative & Experimental Comics" class - 16 pages, b&w cover.
  • Mr. Robot & Cindy - a minicomic about a girl and a broken robot, that was mostly done as a 1 panel a day project for class - 20 pages, full color cover.
  • Bayou Blues - a minicomic about a blues-playing alligator, based largely on work done for a "Character Design & Storyboarding" class - 16 pages, color cover.
  • Rover - a panel-a-week online comic about a toy robot in a post-apocalyptic future, done in "photorealistic" style. It ran for 13 panels, and was left unfinished.

    Before 2000
  • "Dream" - a fantasy comic about a girl and her dragon, that appeared in District, SCAD's student newspaper. There were about 14 installments between October 1997 and February 1999. It was left unfinished.
