Set to Sea 55

The story so far...

Eleanor's parents came and went and hopefully we all had a very pleasant time. We got some pumpkins out at J&J's flea market, and Eleanor and I carved them this evening, and baked up the pumpkin seeds. I don't think we'll be going out anywhere this Halloween, but maybe some kids will come by for candy.

Sashimi is good.

Eleanor and I have been eating a lot of fish recently.

Elo's folks are here for a couple days' visit. Hopefully we'll get to hit most of our (still reasonably small) list of Athens favorites while they're here.

SPX went pretty well. If you stopped by the table, thanks for coming out! We were pretty busy at the table for a good chunk of both days. I still feel like i didn't get to see nearly as many people as I had hoped to see, or pick up all the books I should have. The funky layout of the new Marriott venue definitely wasn't as conducive to hanging out.

I decided to sit down and once and for all thumb out the rest of Set to Sea before I wrote myself too far into a corner. I was thinking I was about 2/3 of the way done, but now it's looking like I'm not even halfway! Eleanor scoffed at me. It's all very disheartening.

More soon!

SPX 06

Welp, we got an email giving us our table assignment for this year's SPX, so I guess we've officially got a table! Hard to believe it's less than two weeks away (Fri & Sat, Oct 13/14, Bethesda, Maryland.)

Look for "Little House Comics" at either C5 or C6. Maybe we're right up the middle? It's hard to tell. We'll be next to some friends of ours, and hopefully a few other friends will be there as well? We'll have almost all of our current comics, so come on by.

This'll be my 6th SPX and Eleanor's 4th! This is a new convention space from the funky old Holiday Inn Select it's been in for so many years, so it's gonna be pretty different. I think the question we're all asking is: will they still allow booze on the floor?

The story so far...

Sorry for the delay! Also, I've rearranged a couple of the panels previous to this one, for hopefully clearer reading. I'll probably do a bit more editing and touch-ups when I finish the whole thing.

We had a pretty interesting weekend. On Saturday we stumbled into a little party being held by our neighborhood association. They were showing the Pirates of the Caribbean movie on the side of the old Clarke County Jail near our house, so we grabbed a blanket and went out to watch. There were little kids running all around and setting off fireworks in the driveway. It was pretty magical.

Yesterday we took a pleasant afternoon walk, and when we were coming down Milledge Street, a huge bird flew right over our heads. We followed it over to a little park by some UGA facility, and found a falcon of some type perched on top of a wiggling squirrel. We watched him fly from tree to tree, until he got to a high branch and started devouring it. The falcon was had a greyish-brown back and white belly and throat. He didn't really seem to have any spots or patterning on his feathers, so we're having trouble identifying him.
