Finis

Well, that's the end of that particular "Pup" strip. It'd make more sense if you read the beginning of the strip over at Serializer, but I think it's still not back up from the crash yet.

...

You know, I hand-draw all of that shit. I don't copy and paste any of those trees. Just sayin'.

Long Boxes

I've been sorting through the 7 or so longboxes of comics I've had kicking around since high school, and weeding out the crappy ones. So far, I've pared three longboxes worth out, so that tells you what kind of taste I had in high school. I got in at the height of early 90s, Wizard Magazine-fueled comics "speculation," which means I have a ton of Image and Valiant "hot" superhero titles, "valuable" variant covers and "first appearances". I guess I'm going to try and sell most of these. I have no idea if anybody in the world wants these comics anymore, but we'll find out. Man, if I had sold these things at their full "book price" back in the day, I probably could have bought a car.

Stuff in, stuff out

Yet another "Pup" update. I think Serializer is back up, but it's been so long since I updated there, I've forgotten how. Ha ha, sad but true. As soon as I figure it out, I'll post all of the new stuff there.

I haven't mentioned yet - Eleanor's lease is running out on her apartment in a month, so she's going to be moving over here! Preparations have already begun. In order to make the move as painless as possible, we're moving stuff over a little at a time. The first things over are most of Eleanor's clothes, and her comics collection. So I had an enormously satisfying time shuffling her and my graphic novels together into a alphabetized mega-collection. It filled more than one bookcase. I like just looking at it.

We've also spent a couple days rearranging the place, culling out of the old stuff that we don't need anymore, organizing the stuff we do, and dropping off stuff at Goodwill. I have a lot of old comics and other junk that'll probably be up on Ebay soon.

The Mustache

So I'm back from Virginia, and as promised, here are my silly mustache pictures.

The basic beard, at about two months growth.

Stage 1: The Biker Handlebar. This is a pretty intimidating mustache.

Stage 2: The Child Molester. Eleanor regretted this one.

Stage 3: With the addition of sunglasses: The Used Car Salesman. Very 80's.

Stage 4: The Hitler. No way am I documenting that one for posterity.

Final Stage: Plain old scruffy regular Drew.

So, I was actually pretty pleased with the way I looked with a full beard. Maybe I'll do it again. The other mustaches looked every bit as ridiculous as I tried to tell Eleanor they would.

Nine

I finished my taxes. I think I came in a couple hundred dollars better than the accountant would've - god bless the Earned Income Credit and business deductions!

Here's another panel of the yet-untitled, glacially-paced comic I'm doing in my spare time.

That's probably the last thing I'll post until Monday. Eleanor and I are driving up to Virginia to see my fambly.

Here's some CDs we might be listening to on our way up:

Bonnie "Prince" Billy - I See a Darkness & Superwolf
David Bowie - Hunky Dory
The Arcade Fire - Funeral
Bob Dylan - The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan

Also when I get back: Silly mustache pictures.

"Pup" and taxes.

Here's another bit of that "Pup" comic:

Look for Serializer to be back up soon, hopefully.

I am doing my taxes right now. They are ridiculously complicated. At this point I have four different forms that all cross-reference each other. I've spent hours going through receipts and bills. Being self-employed sucks at tax time.

Also, I have a mustache right now. I finally shaved off most of the beard, and have gone through two different styles of 'stache. They both looked pretty funny. I expect to be clean-shaven by tomorrow.

Look for pictures soon.

As far as I can tell...

Serializer's still mostly down. So here's the next part of that "Pup" comic.

If you don't know what's going on, sorry... there's five pages prior to this archived over at Serializer.

It's pretty funny

For the first time in a couple months I have some new "Pup" comics done... and Serializer is down because of a horrendous server crash. Oh, well... I guess I'll post it here for now.

I got an email from the printer, saying that the new files I sent have made a significant improvement in the print quality, and they're sending out a new proof book. So, awesome. But I'm not celebrating until I have the actual book in my hand - hell, until I have the actual boxes of books in my hands.
